Junseok Kim

I am a Cellular Protocol Firmware Engineer at Samsung Electronics, developing 5G NR/LTE modem firmware. My work focuses on wireless protocols, modem performance optimization, and HW/SW co-design.

I bridge the gap between protocol design and embedded implementation. I have optimized throughput, voice quality, power efficiency, and CPU workload for the Galaxy and Pixel series. I address cross-layer challenges to maximize modem performance and stability.

I earned my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Seoul National University, specializing in wireless networks and PHY/MAC modeling. I approach engineering from first principles, balancing algorithmic design with hardware constraints.

Cellular protocol firmware engineering overview for 5G NR and LTE, connecting applications, modem firmware, and embedded modem hardware with performance goals including throughput, power efficiency, voice quality, CPU optimization, and real-time stability.
